What is it?
Bite began as an innovative toothpaste brand. It all started when Lindsay McCormick was traveling around the world for work. She found herself using countless travel-sized toothpaste tubes and couldn’t help but wonder- “why does toothpaste come in plastic tubes? AND what exactly are we putting in our bodies when we brush our teeth?” From that moment on, Lindsay was on a mission: to help minimize the staggering amount of plastic covering the earth, staring with her daily dental hygiene.
After she couldn’t find what she was looking for, she decided to simply make it herself. Enter: Bite toothpaste bits. They are dry toothpaste tablets that come in recyclable, sustainable, glass jars. The tiny jars are meant to be kept and refilled with their compostable, Bite bits refill pouches. With its growing popularity, the brand has since expanded into, floss, refillable bamboo toothbrushes, teeth whitening gel and even non toxic deodorant.
Why…
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last ten years, you’re probably well aware that the perpetual production of plastic on earth has become a huge problem, in more ways than one. In fact, if you were to gather up ONLY the plastic toothpaste tubes from around the world (it’s ONE BILLION tubes by the way) in just one years’ time, you would fill up the volume of the Empire State Building, 50 times. Not only this- but most commercial toothpastes are filled with artificial dyes, artificial flavors, preservatives, harsh chemicals, and they are tested on animals.

How she did it…
Lindsay was not a dentist, or a chemist by any stretch of the imagination. She was someone who simply wanted to make the best toothpaste possible without harming people, animals, or our big beautiful planet. So, she did what she could with what she had. She took online chemistry courses and consulted every and any dental hygienist and dentist who would listen to her (and her wild ideas). It was only after hundreds of formulations and failures that Lindsay bought her own tableting machine and finally found the perfect recipe for Bite.
She never imagined or intended to create what Bite has become today. Lindsay thought she could share her new toothpaste tablets with her mom and maybe some of her hippie friends. She had only made about 100 sales when Women’s Health asked her to create some video content about her unique product. Naturally, she obliged. The next morning her video had over 2 million views and she had tens of thousands of customer orders waiting to be filled.

The Ultimate Goal…
Lindsay is proud to have successfully created Bite toothpaste bits and its’ expanding personal care line. She plans to continue to create plastic free alternatives for our everyday routines. Everything from Bite is made with clean, earth friendly ingredients, that are better for your body and our planet. Lindsay wants to show the world that our daily habits matter, and the small changes we make together can add up to something really big.
